Callaway Strata

Callaway Strata – 13 piece golf set w/bag

Price range = $190 – $199

Strata is a sub-brand made by Callaway, and this set is great for new and casual golfers. The clubs design is sleek and the bag is sturdy and looks great plus it has a double shoulder strap for carrying.

The only drawback I see is the driver maybe, if you’re a fast swinger because it can be a little flimsy. But this is average almost with every starter set.

Includes:

  • Driver 460cc with a large sweet spot for more forgiveness
  • Fairway 3-Wood with aerodynamic head shape for long, high flying shots
  • Hybrids (4H & 5H) easier to hit than the 4 & 5 irons
  • Irons (6-PW)
  • Putter Progressive mallet shape for better accuracy on the green
  • Golf bag
  • 2 head covers (driver and 3-wood)

Includes:

Next Pro Score Nano

Next Pro Score Nano – 17 piece golf set w/bag

This set used to sell for above the $500 range and recently the price dropped which is great. Oversize irons on this set hit pretty well and grips have thumb placements as reference so you get the same constant grip on each club.

Love the putter, it has a well balanced mallet shape with a white line guide for easy alignment on the green.

  • Fairway wood (3W)
  • Hybrid irons (3H, 4H)
  • Irons 5 to PW, with oversize and deep cavity for forgiveness on mishit shots

Wilson Ultra

Wilson Ultra – 14 piece golf set w/bag

Price range = $179 – $199

This Wilson set is designed to improve on distance. It has a driver that’s very forgiving on mishits. The black-yellow design on this one looks awesome, it really stands out from the rest. Bag has lots of pockets. The hybrids hit pretty easy and the high MOI putter is very good. Not very impressed with the irons though but they’re fine as well.

Includes:

  • Driver 460cc
  • Fairway wood (3W)
  • Hybrid iron (24 degree)
  • Irons 5 to PW
  • Putter, high MOI for increased accuracy

Pinemeadow PGX

Pinemeadow PGX – 10 piece Golf Set

(just irons and woods)

(Compare to TaylorMade® Rocketballz)

Price range = $164 – $169

If you take a look at Taylor Made’s Rocketballz model, you can see the resemblance in the design. The feel you get when you play with these clubs, is very similar also, except for the driver. Something is just a bit off with the driver that some players claim the feel is not that solid, but the 3W compensates for that because it really boosts your distance. All in all I like how these clubs look and the irons are very forgiving.

Note that it does not include a golf bag nor putter so be sure to get those separately.

Includes:

  • 460cc Driver, 3W and 24º Hybrid
  • 5-PW Irons
  • Graphite Shaft on Driver and 3W
  • 3 Head covers (Driver, 3W, and Hybrid)

Confidence ESP All-Graphite

Confidence ESP All-Graphite

14 piece golf set w/bag

Price range = $159 – $164

Just the fact that all irons have graphite shafts (feel lighter and increases distance) make this set worth the price.

On the contrary of what people may say about this brand, Confidence Golf has been in the business of providing golf equipment aimed at beginners and improving golfers since 1967. And this model is one of their top sellers.

Includes:

  • Driver (graphite shaft)
  • 3W (graphite shaft)
  • 3/4 Hybrid (graphite shaft)
  • 6-PW Irons (graphite shaft deep cavity back all feature perimeter weighting for accuracy)
  • Putter
  • Stand bag
